Reasons to love sailing... 1, 2, 3...

Hello! I'm currently reading a book on my Kindle called the Happiness Project in which the author, among a thousand other great ideas, suggests appreciating the small things in life. Living on a boat (currently in the Caribbean) certainly offers plenty of those. I thought I'd start adding a few here. Perhaps you have some you can add? Or perhaps the ones here will pick you up if you need it or remind you of some sailing pleasures you may have forgot? Either way.... here goes...

1. Washing your hair with rain water.
There’s something very decadent about collecting and then washing hair with rain water. Remember those old Timotei adverts with the girl washing her hair in the stream? Well, it’s not really like that on board (it’s a plastic bucket and jug) but the water is a clean as you can get, it’s free and it’s not draining your precious resources. Pah! Who needs a health spa?

Look - it's MumForSail

Hello and welcome to my new blog. I say 'new' because I have another blog that I've been pootling about on for the last few years called MummyRatesIt. Perhaps you've heard of it?

Anyway, I've created this MumForSail blog because the sailing aspect of our lives is a big thing for us right now.

My husband and our two children (aged 8 and 6) are currently enjoying a 'large chunk' of time out from life in London (and work, school and stuff that fills up your days, weeks and months so that before you know it another year has passed and you've achieved diddly squat) and are living on a Catamaran. I am a Mum, on a boat with sails = MumForSail.

We've just spent 26 days crossing the Atlantic as part of the ARC rally and are now in the very gorgeous Caribbean island of Martinique. We are planning to spend the next year or so sailing the Caribbean and because I sometimes get a bit fed up with sea, sun and rum punch (please don't feel too sorry for me)  I decided to create a blog where I can put all my sailing posts, stories, recipes, photos and musings.

I hope you enjoy MumForSail.
